What is moving
Checked on 1 November 2026: remove.bg says its background removal functionality is migrating into the Canva platform, and that the standalone remove.bg website will no longer be available from 1 December 2026 at 9:00 AM CET. remove.bg has been part of Canva since 2021.
When Canva is likely the better fit
If your next step after removing a background is designing something, such as a social post, presentation, flyer, or product mockup, doing both in Canva avoids exporting and re-importing files. Teams that already share Canva brand kits and templates also keep everything in one place. Check Canva's current plans to see which background removal features your account includes.
When a standalone remover is likely the better fit
If you only need the cutout file, for example a transparent PNG for Shopify, Amazon, Figma, Photoshop, or a local folder, a single-purpose tool can be quicker: open the page, add the image, download. Test both with your own images
Results differ between models and between images. Try the photos you actually use, such as hair, pets, glass, and pale products on pale backgrounds, and compare the downloaded files at the same size on light and dark backgrounds before choosing.
